Jithan Ramesh, the elder sibling of Jeeva, presented some memorable performances as Surya and Sivan in Jithan and Madurai Veeran. Ramesh had been shunning the arclights for quite some time, but has decided to make his mega comeback with Pillaiyar Theru Kadaisi Veedu. Director Thirumalai Kishore has created a village drama about a light-hearted young man, his loving family, friends and his romance to deliver a clean family entertainer. Did Kishore blend the ingredients the right way? Let's watch and clap!

Ganesh (Jithan Ramesh) is the light-hearted son of a wealthy landlord. He shuns responsibilities and whiles his time away with his group of village friends. Drinking, organising adult movies at the local cinema, and playing pranks on the villagers, are his sole purposes in life. One fine morning, while rushing to a place, Ganesh bumps into Sandhya (Sanchita Padukone) and it's love at first sight. Things seem so easy when Ganesh learns that Sandhya is none other than his sister's friend from the city and has arrived at his house for her vacation.

For some time, the spoilt Ganesh turns into a self proclaimed guide and takes Sandhya around the village. Ganesh's uncle (Ilavarasu) is a drunkard and is deep in debt. He constantly abuses Ganesh's aunt and daughter Valli (Suhasini), as they swear by their love to Ganesh's father (Jayaprakash). The nefarious uncle constantly snubs Ganesh's father for no reason. Ganesh's closely knit family always supports his father and Ganesh. As time goes by, Sandhya too realizes her love for Ganesh, but hides her feelings, waiting for the right moment.

By this time, Ganesh's uncle tries to marry his daughter off to a local goon, to repay his debts. Unable to take this abuse, Ganesh's aunt and Valli seek refuge with Ganesh's father, only to agitate his uncle even more. To relieve Valli from her wicked father, Ganesh's family thinks that Ganesh marrying Valli would be a permanent solution for the problem. The family decides this in Ganesh's absence, which comes as a shock to Sandhya, who was just about to express her love for him.

Torn between her love for Ganesh and her affection to the family, who considers her one among them, Sandhya decides to make an amazing and surprising decision. What is the decision? Does Ganesh marry Sandhya or Valli? Is Ganesh just a light-hearted young man as he projects, or does he hold some secrets, that would tear the family apart? Watch it all when you see Pillaiyar Theru Kadaisi Veedu, which hit screens today.

Though director Thirumalai Kishore offers an overused village drama theme, he sure adds his uniqueness treatment to its execution, so it stands out from similar movies of the same genre. Projected as Jithan Ramesh's comeback movie, the production has lived up to expectations. In this drama, a mix of love, revenge, pain and rejection is required from the actor, and he delivers all. Sanchita Padukone has had her stint in Sandalwood, but her role is smaller than newcomer Suhasini's. Jayaprakash, as Ganesh's father, keeps up his reputation and offers a great character performance. Ilavarasu as Ganesh's wicked uncle adds creativity to his villainous nature with loads of slapstick humour.

M.V. Pannerselvam's camera romances the luscious landscapes, farms and waterways. A.R. Mohan's art direction and the rundown house at the end of the street (which forms the title of the movie) is a notable piece of art. Except for the abrupt songs and the less-than-amusing humour,Pillaiyar Theru Kadaisi Veedu is a clean family entertainer!
